Hi Everybody,

We are currently playing 'Thirteen Days'. It's 1.85:1. The film is bleeding off the screen on the top. I have put up electrical tape on the window to 'mask' it BUT I am only masking it. The actual picture is now smaller and to get the opening credits and everybody's full head shot in frame, is my issue. Do I have to adjust my lens/something else to get the 'whole' picture on the screen ??.

I recall there were some issues with fairly tight framing in the composition of some scenes in "Thirteen Days".

First, verify that you are showing the standard projectable image area for 1.85:1 (0.825 x 0.446 inches) by using the SMPTE 35-PA (RP40) test film. Then pay close attention to the framing of the actual picture.

Just had to do something similar today, as a matter of fact...

Put in the RP-40 film and pull the aperture plate. You'll get a picture that's spilling off the screen and all over the wall. You can see where the edges of the screen line up in relation to the picture area as indicated by the lines on the film.

Assuming you're doing the FLAT lens, center the 0.825" X 0.446" lines up with the screen edges. When you finish making those aedjustments put the plate back in and check to see if that is right.
