Hi, Im having the same problem on my 6000' split reel as I did with my original one, the problem being that the screws holding down the flange on the non-core side keep getting loose and broken in the shaft, meaning that the top part of the screws breaks off with the body of the screw still in the shaft. I do not excessively tighten the reel every time though. This is a reel from Goldberg, not a homemade one. Any suggestions what to do? Thanks.

Hi Mike, if you can get the pieces out, replace them with flat head allen drive screws (available at good hardware or auto supply house) These are grade 8 screws, they wont shear off very easy! Also, apply a coat of fingernail polish (AKA Locktite) to the threads when you install them, this too will prevent loosening! Good luck!

PS the tape went out today! John
