Is Joe Dirt DTS? I put my print together today and reels 2-5 have a DTS timecode on them. Reel 1 does not have a timecode on it. The credits for the movie states that it is using all three formats. We did not get a set of disks for the movie. We got on the phome with technoflukes and asked them what the hell was going on. Do we need a new reel or is it DTS. They cam back with it was not listed as being DTS. For all of you posting out there did your print come this way and did you recieve disks. I think this is bull crap if it was supposed to be DTS and they changed something on reel one without coming up with new disks. Can't they make sure everything is final before the make the disks.

Print here has timecode on all reels, but no discs. Note in can specifically states that the feature is in SRD/SDDS(6) and says nothing about DTS. I'd love to know the official answer from DTS. Karen?

On my print, it looks like reels 1 and 2 were supposed to have it, but no timecode was printed, and the rest of the reels are without it. Odd huh?

I didnt even notice the lack of DTS until now...I put the film on an SRD screen.Our film office says that if the print doesnt come with the discs, its possible the thing was rushed out and the discs weren't done yet. In which case they would follow the next day in priority airborne. I wish I could say for certain about this one though. The film office hates it when I call at 3 AM

None of the reels in my print had timecode. However, that was the least of the print's problems....Reel 3 was a nightmare. Courtesy Deluxe, there is a stretch of film where all the soundtracks go to clear or black at one time or another, and the image itself turns various shades of red, yellow, and clear.
Furthermore, shortly afterward the film goes one perf out of frame-- mid-reel, no splice or anything. I've read here about things like that happening before but I couldn't and still can't picture how the printer could have done that. Over a length of about 24 frames, the frameline slowly and continuously moves down about a perf's worth and the rest of the reel is out of frame by this amount. FWIW, it occurs right at the beginning of a new shot-- the school lab scene, right after the cafeteria scene where Joe is pelted with hot dogs and says, "Guess I'm lucky it's not hot chili day today" or something similar. On a Christie platter at least, with about 10 min. of pre-feature material, this scene occurs about 1-3/16" to 1-1/4" into Reel 3.

Christopher: Obviously, ask for a replacement for the defective reel. Sounds like there was a real problem during printing or processing of that reel.Jumping out of frame by one perforation was likely due to the raw stock briefly jumping off the printer sprocket, and then reseating itself. It's likely only this one particular reel had that problem. Again, get a replacement reel.

I recently had a similar problem on another Columbia movie, "Finding Forrester". It was within the first 5 minutes of the movie, and I was able to pre-screen it the night before, so it was easily fixed.
The print of "Joe Dirt" my theater got didn't have any DTS timecode; it was scheduled to play in a DTS house but moved into one with Dolby Digital (seating capacity issues; I learned a long time ago not to expect every movie to get put in the ones that would suit it best technically )

We recently got a print of "Dancer in the Dark". It came with two DTS disks clearly labeled "Dancer in the Dark - A" and "D..D - B". However, the print had NO time code - on any reel. Why would they make the disks and then not timecode the print?
And, after all I've read about missing DTS disks, why would Real Easy send us the disks when we have never had DTS equipment in our theater?
