Next question, I find that the gate seems to be too tight and the film makes a pretty loud clicking noise, but it's not hurting the film at all. How do you adjust the tension. If I open the gate very slightly to back off some of the tension the film stops chattering and sounds like a normal projector, mind you, that when I do this it's not affecting the image at all, nice and steady rock solid.

In general, use the lowest gate tension possible, while maintaining a sharp and steady image. SMPTE Recommended Practice RP 106 suggests limiting tension on the film to less than 4.4 Newtons (16 ozf), and ideally as low as 1.7 Newton (6 ozf).------------------

The later Super gates had two tumb nuts that screwed down on a spring to apply tension
Theolder ones you had to bend the forks of the springs in and out to get the tension
I believed it was 1/8" protrusion with the pads removed But would have to check the manual to be sure don't have many of them to deal with
Also the curved section on thje bottom of the trap door can have been bent a little not putting even tension on the film over the sprocket

I had a Super and never did figure out how to adjust the gate tension. Maybe a big hammer. I believe adjustable gate tension was an innovation that the E7s had along with the one shot oiler. Get some Film Guard and use it. It really helps the film slip through the gate. Keeps that rock hard gunk from building up too------------------
