Did anyone else get a set of Pearl Harbor disks in the mail today from Technicolor/Airborne for no apparent reason? To make things more confusing, we have two prints, but only one set of disks arrived in the mail. You'd think they would include a note or something explaining why they are sending something that we already have.
Does anyone know what's up?

could this explain why the soundtrack has been often criticized ? defectuous recording/encoding ?

David, it is possible. But what difference does it make? The movie is almost dead anyway. Maybe Scott can answer that, if he used his new discs.

I wonder if these discs actually have the THX logos on them. Can someone put it in a cdrom drive and read the text file?

One of our prints had bad discs. When reel 2 hit the screen we lost the sound and it dropped back to analog. Reel 2 had time code on it and we tried using discs from one of the other Pearl prints and it worked fine. Disney may have had a bad batch of discs replicated and they are sending out new ones. Just a theory...------------------

The serial number on the new disks is "2545" (same as the old ones). There are no THX trailers listed in the text file, although both new and old (and apparently identical) disks list the THX trailers on the front of the disk.

I haven't seen the disks myself, but wouldn't the serial number of the new disks need to be the same as the originals? IF it's different, wouldn't the DTS player think the wrong disks are in the player? Thus, if there IS something different about the soundtrack you might not be able to tell unless you did an A/B comparison of them. Maybe a comparison of the two sets on a computer would tell you if there is a difference.Then, again, judging by what company makes the disks anything could be possible. I just think there was a problem with the original burn and these are probably "fixed" copies.

Scott,There is no reason why you got another set of discs. No changes have been made to release discs.

Thanks, Karen. It was probably just a shipping error. We'll return the second set of disks with one of the prints.
