Can somebody please describe the way PEARL HARBOR's reel 1 starts (excluding the attached trailer)? We are opening the film Friday and print we got has had its beginning cut-off. I'm trying to figure out how much footage I'm missing. Of course TES is "not sure" if they can replace the reel on time so I may have to run with this.My print starts with a biplane flying in a sunrise scene. No fade-in or anything. Is the reel suppposed to start with the Touchstone logo?
Thanks for helping.

That's how it opens. No logo, no nothing. Just straight into the bi-plane sequence.

OK, thanks. I still want to get a new reel though because I want the fade-in, dammit! Also the sound is cut-off at the beginning.

Mike,The biplane scene is the first scene but you're right, there is a fade-in.
I had a little trouble cutting the beginning of the movie because the "Atlantis" trailer is very close to the movie (I've cut it because I've put a THX trailer before the film). If you cut at the end of Atlantis you'll have few sound cut on the beginning of the movie, if you cut at the soundtrack change, you will see few frames of "Atlantis" fading-out before the movie...
I'm not sure that TES can provide you Pearl Harbor without trailers well-cut...
Good luck
Antonio

The sound starts and runs for perhaps 4-5 seconds before the picture fades in. I don't think in the prints I handled that the Atlantis trailer tail was overlapped with the feature sound.

We got our replacement reel yesterday. The Atlantis trailer is cut off (as expected) but the audio and black film are there complete. No sign of overlap with the trailer.Good thing this print arrived Wednesday!
