A deal is in the offing for the purchase of 2 nearly new Kneisley lamps at an extremely good price. Trouble is aesthetics and aesthetics is what this place is all about, top to bottom. Black wrinkle is the finish on projectors & lamps now. These lamps in grey won't look period enough. The question is---do the outsides of lamps get hot enough to require high temp. paint. They will be done by an an auto painter so quality of application will be high.

You should get flames painted up the sides of the lamphouse.
That would look cool.

I re-painted a couple of ORC-3000's with regular beige Ace Hardware spray bomb paint. Never had any problems with blistering, flaking, etc.The tops of Carbon Arc lamps can get very hot, and a high temperature paint might be in order, just to be sure.

Black wrinkle is a tough paint that stands up to abuse and would work fine on your lamphouse. Don't use house paint on it though.

The knisely's tend to be hot especially the top
