They should be able to supply a manual. Also, check with local film labs who may have one of these old units:

What cleaning solvent are you using? It could be a concern, as the CF2 did NOT recycle the solvent and was not as tightly sealed as their modern machines.

John: thank you very much for your info, I obtained the unit from one of our labs here in MELBOURNE, but they did not have any paper info with it.
In my experiance with some the larger local labs, they seem to have the opinion that that if they were to hand out any information at all, that you might end up knowing more than them, so they seem to dump any paper work like what I am after.
In referance to the chemical I am useing, it is perclore or pic clear
same thing.
But I am open to suggestions.
I am cleaning large amounts of nitrate and old safety 35mm 16mm and 8mm as the machine is desighned for,

Stan: Note the very low TLV of 25ppm for tetrachloroethylene (AKA perc, perchlor, perchloroethylene). When used in the old CF2 cleaners, your exposure to the hazardous vapors could be excessive unless really good ventilation is used:

Iam aware of the toxic problems of perc, and have the unit vented outdoors. Both exhaust fans work well,and all covers are kept in place when the machine is being used.

Has there been any advances made with water based cleaners yet?:d

Aqueous film cleaning is very effective, and is used by some print film rejuvenation services. It has the advantage of "healing" minor emulsion-side scratches, as well as removing embedded dirt. Trouble is, the wet film needs to be dried again, requiring a fairly large machine with a dry cabinet.

Here is information on Kodak's Rewash (RW-1) process:

Maybe that film lab in Melbourne will sell you an old processing machine, so you can offer a RW-1 rewash service!

AFAIK, the old CF-2 Lipsner-Smith ultrasonic cleaners are not suitable for the new film-cleaning solvents. The hydronaphtha is combustable, with a flash point of 104F. The fast-evaporating and expensive HFE solvents require the efficient vapor control and solvent recovery of the newer machine designs.
