For practical reasons, ScreenCheck was only available in the United States, U.K. and Denmark. As a commercial venture, however, ScreenCheck was unable to establish a critical mass of participants to ensure ongoing viability, and with the increasing financial pressures on the exhibition sector, not just in the United States, it became plain that a greater rate of adoption was unlikely to occur. Therefore, in June, a decision was made to eliminate the Kodak ScreenCheck Experience program in its original form. However, we have redefined ScreenCheck into a service for distributors who want to ensure that important new releases are presented to audiences in optimized environments. Again the same quality of service will be adhered to when our ScreenCheck technicians visit your theatre.
Theatre owners can still apply for one-off Cinema Evaluations and recommendations from this independent viewpoint. Another part of the U.S. ScreenCheck program still offered is Projection Training. Unfortunately, the lack of resource in Europe does not allow these evolved quality improvement activities to be available.
