TA-10's in Strong Super-Highlight consoles;
Normal TA-10 operation: the start button is pushed, motor and xenon-lamp start immediately along with sound mute, slide-projector off, and houselight to mid-level. 7 seconds later, the change-over opens and sound switches to film sound.
Unusual TA-10 symptiom: the start button is pushed, motor and xenon-lamp start immediately, and thats all folks. Nothing else happens.
This is a very unusual condition, happening maybe once a month (if that) and of course never when I am at the theatre to observe whether or not it does any of the other start functions (although the operators claim it doesn't).
It is acting as if the interlock button is pressed, but this is not the case.
Could this be r.f. from the ignitor causing this and should I be thinking about installing the shield boards?

Component Engineering
the first being its versatility (including easy change to n.c. contacts by simply moving a relay),
the second being that it is totally film-programmable so that ineperienced staff can move prints between cinemas without having to worry about changing any controls on the automation (although I am considering getting them to make up FLAT and SCOPE mylar leaders, programmed so that the right format comes up when they start the show),
and last, but certainly not least, the great customer support.
Both theatres were installed around the same time (Winter-1997). I will report what I find. Thanks again.
Thanks Bill!
In addition to being President of Component Engineering, Bill IS a "tech guy" (and a nice one at that)!
