Has anyone ever repaired the ring mounting holes in masonite AW-2 decks? If you have what works best for this? I was thinking along the lines of an epoxy filler or even Bondo. Any reccomendations here from someone that may have done this would be appreciated?

The two methods I find most effective repairing AW2
sledge hammer
dynamite
then get a reel platter
actually the best method would be to machine a plug and bore out the old hole and insert it with a retainer on the bottom

Gord, I wholeheartedly agree with the first part of your statement! The last part about getting a reel platter doesn't make sense though as platters don't use reeels.

When I was a kid I had a job sweeping the floors in a pattern shop. (Where they made wooden "models" of parts for foundries.) A fair bit of their work had to do with rebuilding old patters that had worn out from repeated use. A lot of the older patterns used wooden dowel pins to register halves in place before they were put into the "sand box". Of course they would quickly wear out or get broken off. The holes would end up getting elongated, etc.Their solution was to insert these metal registration pins in place of the wooden ones. The base of them was threaded just like a wood screw. All they did was drill out the holes to the proper size and screw these in place. (I kinda' think of it as putting in a Heli-Coil... only for wood.)
I don't know the exact name of the things but I have seen them in the Grainger catalog. I'm sure you can get them at a woodworking supply shop.
