I have two TA-10's that will not sound the built-in alarm when the projector shuts down for no apparent reason, although I would suspect the film presence or film motion detectors would be causing the shut-down. The reason why I think this is because the shutdown problem goes away after I straighten out the lower guidance hardware that was wanged out of position by a club-footed projectionist dancing on the film path. However, the alarm will sound on tail-out if the detector misses the shut-down cue.
Any suggestions as to why the alarm does not sound when a fault is detected? The alarm sounds ONLY if the film tails-out.

Although I never was able to follow up on Bill Purdy's recommendation, I think I found the cause.House No. 2 and 3 were shutting down at exactly the same time. The only thing these houses have in common is the 3 phase power.
The problem may be caused by dirty power. It appears when the booth's A/C cycles, it takes the booth lighting into a dip. The power dip lasts about 200 milli-seconds, enough to almost extinguish some of the flourescent lights in the secure areas. I don't think two of the automations like it.

Are the units hooked up for interlock? If so, check the address on the dip switches. I had a theater that was wired for interlock, but the switches were never set so when one machine shut down, so did several others.
I would not have found this without Don Olsen, and I strongly suggest you talk to him if you still have problems. He has saved my butt on many occasions!!

Richard, the system is not interlocked. The only connection common to the two automations is primary power, and nothing else. And, yes, I will get in contact with Don Olson.

I spoke with Don Olson, and he also thinks it may be something "cycling" in the building's electrical system. There are a few more things to check. I am confident I will get this problem resolved, and when I do, I will post it for you all.
