I have a CP 55 with SR that is stuck in mute mode. The processor wakes up in non-sync like it should, but the mute cannot be disabled by pressing the mute button. the local/external fader panel will switch to external, but wont switch back. I hate running bypass.
any help would be appreciated

Josh

Do you have any form of automation hooked up to the unit? If memory serves, there are a couple of different automation boards on the back of the unit. Which one do you have?

I was a bit suspitious of that board, so I removed it. It didnt help at all.

But, if it helps, the board number is cat. 231

I have had this exact problem. The mute switch itself was faulty. Replaced and off we went. Also check the ribbon cable and plug from the front panel card, and the control logic card.

I will give that a try Pete,

Thanks

well, I am going to have a replacement cat 243 card shipped out, hopefully here tommorrow. after comparing this units function with another cp 55, we think the control card is at fault. after trying to trip the mute with the automation board and failing, the 243 is about the only option left. I'll keep you updated,

Josh

Here is another thing you can try when troubleshooting...you say you compared it to another CP-55....did you take your board and try it in the other CP-55? It is a sure fire way when you have multiple units to try!

Josh, with the readings we took over the phone, I also suspect it is the CAT 243. I am not sure if the card was shipped Blue label or Von Ryan's express.

Paul
