I'm trying to create and put to use an Annual Preventive Maintenance checklist for our Simplex PR-1060's. So far I have:

Change Oil & clean filter
Change Xenon bulb, vacuum lamp house, clean reflectors
Replace tension bands
Replace exciter lamp

In addition to that there will be basic cleaning done to all parts. Can anyone pick up where I left off? Or better yet, possible e-mail me a copy of your Annual PM?

Lamp changes should be based on usage (hours), reliability and light output. Cleaning lamphouse optics may need to be done more frequently, especially in dirty environments. Lamp rotation may be recommended. Vacuum accumulated dust from all electronic components and cooling fans/ducts.

I would certainly recommend evaluating picture quality with the SMPTE 35-PA (RP40) test film, and checking the sound system alignment.

Would rotating the sprocket rollers be an annual thing, or just as needed?

I am assuming you are askig about the pad rollers that hold the film onto the sprocket? AFAIK, they don;t need to be touched unless they have flat spots in which case they need replacing soon.

As far as the SPROCKETS themselves, they should be left alone unless there is visible 'hooking' of the teeth, in which case the sprocket should be removed and reversed (some machines this cannot be done) and the sprocket is usually good for a number of years more.

JP suggested sound system checks. You should run a Dolby tone test loop about every 6 months, or right after you change a regular (incandescent) type exciter lamp.
