I'm getting some VERY conflicting information on this engagement, and I'm hoping someone here can clarify things.

Is the 70mm print of 2001 at the Astor Plaza being shown with DTS or Magnetic sound?

I've heard from two very reliable sources, and they totally disagree.

Does anyone have any additional information on this?

Thanks

(Note: I just noticed in another thread a very depressing report on the Astor Plaza situation. There are hints in that posting that the print is mag.)

If that is the same print that's been touring Seattle, Frisco and DC, it's mag

What is being claimed is that the Mag print that left the Uptown in DC is playing or will be playing at the Egyptian and that the Astor's print is DTS....perhaps Karen could inform us if DTS made any 70mm prints of 2001.

I find it odd since the print we ran was indeed a format 41 (5-screen channel film with SR NR) and for a DTS print, then a 5.1 mix (for theatres) would have to have been done.

My understanding is it's in DTS.
Karen did confirm that (in another topic posting) DTS has made disks for some 70mm prints.

That's so strange... a guy I know (who would know the difference) says it's DTS. Also, the ads in the paper say it's DTS. Weird...
