I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere and sadly the SDDS page is no help . Is the mix on this film SDDS 6 or 8 track?

Thanks for the infoI never thought of looking at the press release pages as they only seem to issue one every year or so.
What frustrates me is that they never seem to update the Movies listing page which is where you might expect them to list the info

I just looked at the processor during a major battle scene and the LE/RE tracks were dead. Also SDDS-8 films always have the "8" logo in the end credits.

Dick,Why don't you use one of the e-mail addresses in the press release to let Sony know they should keep the web site updated on the film list.

Dick,You can also ask your local Sony office to put your theatre on their mailing list.
That way they send you the film listings and whether they are 5.1 or 8C.

Slightly off-topic but a tad related, we have a DTS print and apparently ENT aren't keen on pushing DTS, we've been waiting for disc's since opening.But after listening to the analogue mix, it really is superb, very rich and the bass is excellent, so there is no rush for the disc's. Best analogue mix i've heard for a long time.

I was referring to the print I ran (of course, in an 8 channel setup). The print is 6 channel.

Dick, i just came down to the nmpft and saw the performce last night. I asked and found out that it was in SDDS and noted the SDDS tag ran on the print. Did you find it to be 6 or 8 channels in the end?

As Brad said above it was 5.1
Harry Poottter next week will be in 7.1 ( 8 channel)

Actually, Harry Potter is SDDS-8 AND Surround EX so assign what ever number you feel to that (some call it 8.1)Steve

You've recognised me then Dick I've seen you around before.Do you have EX at pictureville? The plastic signs hung over the pictureville entrance just advertise the regular 5.1 versions of Dolby/DTS/SDDS. But i thought it was likely that pictureville would have EX. Plus the museum is listed on the EX search on the dolby website.)
(Battle of Algiers that you put on for us lovely EIMC students. I was trying to count reel changes. Wasn't it like 12 or 13 reels or something and only just under 2 hours long. Seemed like reel changes every 10 minutes or so.

Yes Michael both Pictureville and Cubby Broccoli Cinema's have EX we just never got the plaque (not sure if Dolby supplied one)Battle Of Algiers was on seven reels. It's a BFI print .
It was probably originally on more smaller reels and has been assembled onto seven hence the proliferation of changeover dots.

One note about SDDS-8, the logos on end credits for films (as well as print ads in newspapers) typically do not use the special SDDS-8 logo. I have only seen it used on rare occaisions in the last couple years.

Was it that really knackered BFI print with a 1-85 hard matte? When I saw it at Exeter 4-5 years ago someone had joined a section back to front, with the result that an Algerian terrorist appears to be guillotined in reverse (i.e. the blade travels upwards). That cheered up a really depressing film no end.

From watching it it seemed to be 1.85:1 hard matted. There were black bars creaping into the top and bottom of the image occasionaly. So the printed image must have been moving up and down.
