Whilst ordering my latest batch of replacement diodes for stock I noticed that there are now large DO-5 stud mount diodes available in the fast recovery versions. Has anyone tried these out as replacements in xenon rectifiers? What advantages would they have,if any?

If the diodes were going in the output rectifier section of a switching power supply, then fast recovery diodes would be a must. For general raw DC applications rectifying 60 or 50 Hz. ordinary diodes would suffice.
