Has anyone out there tried this clear tape out? It is the clearest stuff that I've ever seen. I can see right through a 50 foot roll of the stuff, in fact its so clear I can read newsprint through the roll, it comes on a clear plastic bobbin. I'd like some feedback on this stuff as far as residual tape goo, and getting it back off the film during breakdown.

Did you get it through your supply co or directly from the manufacturer?

We were offered it directly. Its very inexpensive. Its been a VERY hectic week, perhaps I'll try it tommrrow on some of my film. Its so clear that I can read a newspaper through the whole roll of the stuffI'll let you know after I try it out. Was just curious if anyone else here had.

I don't think transparency is a great indicator of quality.
We used to get "supertran" (?) tape that was clear like a glass cylinder was wrapped around the core. It was also great splicing tape. For some reason long forgotten - maybe the English supplier just stopped making it? - we changed tape brands. I've seen clear stuff with crappy performance, and white/yellowish stuff that I loved. All I want is tape that A)is thin enough so the splices run OK, B) sticks well, C) cuts well, D) peels off well without tearing, leaving glue, or stripping emulsion off and E) isn't visibly degrading the picture (more than is unavoidable).
