I am getting some light horizontal scratching on the inboard or non soundtrack side of film. This is a two projector booth with Century "c"'s and r3 sound heads and Kelmar arms. The problem is happening on one projector. It is happening on the base side ( if I am remembering right the base side is against the trap right? ) and goes from sprocket hole to just into the image area. I've checked pad rollers, the adjustment is good ( 2 film thickness clearance), the trap is good without burrs, although there is slight movement back and forth with my trap tool. Gate pressure is good- film slides through trap smoothly. The lateral guide roller on the sound head is spinning freely and everything is lined up well. What am I missing?? Nothing is jumping out as a probable cause and I'm kinda looking at the projector scratching my head. Any ideas?

Looks like a rewinding problem to me,
the film is rubbing on the side of the spool as the is being rewound.
Or the takeup or supply spools are out of line causeing the film to rub on the spool edge.

I thought about rewind also. But when I ran a unrun preview on a 20min. house reel and hand rewound it is still happening. Also it is only happening on one of the two machines. The film runs off and onto reels in a good straight path with equal contact to roller flanges on take- up and feed arm rollers and the rollers spin easily with no flat spots.

Horizontal scratches are of course made by the film moveing sideways
or something in the film path rotating against the film.
Could you please describe the marks in more detail.
Do they get worse as the screening numbers increase? ------------------
