I recently rescued a pair of Supers and SH1000s from oblivion from a defunct theater in Pennsylvania. Both of these machines were out of service for many years and both are fully equipped with nitrate safety devices including the upper fire roller holder and clusters. Both of these machines are equiped with some type of mechanical gravity failsafes that I have not been able to identify. Part of the failsafe is a box that is screwed onto the side of the upper fire roller cluster holder. This box has an artdeco cover with a "N" printed on it. Inside of this box is a contact point electrical switch that is mechanically linked to some type of film loop shoe (similar to the E-7) that is part of and located on the fire roller holder.The upper failsafe is electrically connected to a gravity failsafe assembly mounted to the bottom of the soundhead. This failsafe also uses a mechanical contact point switch. Any info regarding this system would be greatly appreciated!

That might have been someone's own modification. I never saw anything you describe.
