Anyone have any complaints on this one? I was called on site because the sound was splattery on the dialog, accompanied with a hiss that modulated with the soundtrack. I never heard this one before.I switched the CP-45 from SRA to Dolby "A" and it sounded a little better, but not by much. I threw the CP-45 in bypass, but the sound was still unacceptable. I also switched the CP-45 into Mono, and that reduced the sound quality complaint.
After analyzing the sound system, checking calibration, crosstalk and EQ, there appeared to be absolutely no problems with the system. We are, by the way, using CE's reverse scan.
The print was then switched to another house, and the problem followed. It was then confirmed the analog sound track of the entire print is bad.
Anyone had the same happen to them? If so, it is not the sound system. It is the print.

Had the same problem at my theatre also. The dialog sounded indistinct and waterd down along with the music in the background. My tech changed out the bearings in the solar cell and are lateral guide rollers and that still didnt do it. Friday came and Collateral Damage was moved into this house and the problem disapeared. Well at least the sound head is in good shape now.

No problems with the 16mm print that I ran last night. The 35mm prints that I've handled have all run in SR-D and sounded fine, so I don't know if there's an issue with the optical tracks on them.

It ran here in SR Sat night with the Fader at 8. Sounded fine to me when I saw it.
