Does anyone have a picture of the RP40 on their computer with information on all its uses ?

The SMPTE document RP-40 is available from the SMPTE. The document has a picture of the target with descriptions on what each portion can be used for. The document is copyrighted and the sale of the various RPs and standards are one of the revenue sources of the society (most societies have similar systems). For more information, check out

Documents are available individually, as a group (motion picture only or television only) or as a whole on CD-ROM

With each roll of 35-PA, an instruction sheet is included.

Hey I got an e-mail from our fearless leader, Mr. Pinkston that said it was 8:30am! We need to bring a roulette wheel to the meeting to set the meeting times!

I received an email from SMPTE dated 2002 Feb 20 16:24:37 that noted the meeting time change from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM on Tuesday, March 5.

That's the last word I had too. Maybe Steve is on Bobby Pinkston's preferred member list.

I understand the shift from the original 7:30am is to allow P3 members see Ioan Allen receive the Ken Mason Award for his work in the Inter-Society Committee for the Enhancement of Theatrical Presentation.

I'm willing to wager that Bobby had a typo and it really is 9:00am...since Ioan's award thing is at 7:30...it would be a bit of a rush.

When I called in to participate in the DC28.08 Working Group on Digital Projection yesterday, Bobby was at the meeting in Los Angeles, and verified that the meeting will start at 9:00 am.

The 8:30 am time is when the hotel will deliver the refreshments, and you are welcome to come early if you are not going to the presentation of the Ken Mason Inter-Society Award to Ioan Allen.

BTW, Film-Tech members going to ShoWest are certainly welcome to attend the SMPTE Projection Technology (P3) Meeting. If you have expertise and can commit the time and effort to participate in standards activities, you can fill out the "Statement of Participation" on the SMPTE website:
