At my theater we have CP500, qsc usa 900 amplifiers and dolby digital surround EX SA-10. The softkeys are customed so:
SK 1: 01 MONO (s).
SK 2: 04 dolby A-type (s).
SK 3: 05 SR (s).
SK 4: 10 Digital.
SK 5: 11 External 6 channel.
SK 6: 61 non-sync 2.
SK 7: 60 non-sync.
SK 8: 10 Digital (a).
The auto eneable digital appears on SK 8 as an (a). After the 7 seconds should turn on the SK 8 but it not happen, SK 4 is who turn on (i think it's the master). When the SK 4 is on the SA-10 doesn't work, then I press the SK 8 it turn the SA-10 on. Should I remove the digital from SK 4? The fact is I don't know who customized this CP500 and why use two digital softkey if there is one cat.701 and one projector.

sometimes an installer will program more than one digital softkey to allow for volume changes in the show if your automation (such as the Component Engineering TA-10 which is common in your country ) can not control the volume.

If you are running a SA10 adaptor with the CP500 then the sk8 key is set up to turn your SA10 on. When you set up for an EX print you should set up your automation to switch to sk8 when the feature starts. You will still need your SRD on sk4 for non EX digital prints.
Ken could probably explain this one a bit better as we never set up our SA10/CP500's this way.

I'm with Kris on this...that's how our CP-500/SA-10 is configured and I think I recall this being the reason for the two keys.------------------

they are right....we have not many SA-10 since the last Star Wars picture and most of the CP650 we sell are the Ex models...in your country that will be late June or July....of course their are other EX encoded features.

With certain automations it is desirable not to use the SK8 configurations but to directly connect to the SA10 particulaly if you have a dts also connected to the cp500 so you can have DTS ex as well as SRD ex

There are 3 more CP500 in my booth and they turn the SA-10 on when starts the show. It's not TOO important 'cause they are running on digital format however i'm still curious why it (screen 1) doesn't do like the other 3 CP500.

German, check your other CP500s in the building. Odds are SK8 has been declared a "target" with SK3 (and perhaps others) as "sources" on the ones that work. The unit in question probably has SK4 set as the "target". The manual explains how to reset them. It is very easy, but I'd have to be in front of a CP500 to remember step by step how to do it.If it is not a matter of targeting, you will have to move a wire on the automation input so that SK8 is selected from the automation. I would recommend if that is the case that you wait for your tech.
Personally, I would have wired up your automation so it pulses SK3 (SR) at the douser open and then let the CP500 auto-detect digital from there. That way you can simply move the "target" between SK4 and SK8 depending on what kind of feature you are playing (EX or non-EX).
