A friend of mine has been experiencing problems with Time Machine in when playing in DTS. He has tried 3 different theatres, and the same problems: It will play in DTS for a few seconds, then drop to SR and stay there while still reading the discs. He cannot get it to stay in DTS, nor could his technician. Could it be bad discs? Has anyone else experienced this problem?------------------
This one time, at Projection Camp, I stuck a xenon bulb....

How about some details, Ken?What DTS box is it? What do the lights do? How about the lights on the timecode readers? The CDROM drives? Has he tried power cycling the DTS box? Do the trailers play in DTS?

One way to figure out if it's bad disks is to trick your DTS player into playing the disks without the film running------------------

One presumes that after it drops to SR and you manually punch the CP back to whatever mode you use for DTS that there is no sound coming from the DTS unit. Is that so?

We had the same problem. We have three prints of Time Machine, and the one playing in a DTS house wouldn't read the discs properly, so I swapped the discs with the ones from another print. Now it works fine. Might wanna get some new discs.-Roy.

If the film is dropping out, look that the timecode light on the reader. It should not blink a lot. If it does, let me know.If the discs have a problem, the light on the drive itself will come on steady. Normally, the light on the drive will wink while a disc is read. If the drive light comes on solid, it means it cannot read the disc. If that happens, let me know.
