At our older theaters that use the older type Kelmar failsafes. This stuff works very well. Use it once a week and all the cues will function as they should. Use this thread to post any other related info about tuner cleaner and let the other one called a new booth friend to sink to the bottom of the pond.

Sometimes people use the term 'tuner cleaner' for 'contact cleaner'. It has it's uses if used sparingly and carefully. I use it on the volume pots on Cinema Film Systems and Smart booth monitors especially since their pots get scratchy so easily.Yes, tuner cleaner is still widely available, but sometimes with names like 'Super Wash' cleaner/degreaser for electronics.

If you are going to clean any moving electrical parts (pots, switches and sliding contacts) you need to use a cleaner that will not strip the lubricant in pots or bearings. I use Caig's DeOxit (now called 'R5' and was formerly called Cramolin) http://www.caig.com/r5-form.htm It's pricey but works wonders! A little goes a long way as well!NOTE: Regular 'contact cleaner' will strip the lube from a pot or switch causing it to sieze in a short time. Some 'tuner cleaners' out there DO have a lubricant in them like the R5 does and will not degrease the parts.
