AMIA member Randy Gitsch would like to invite fellow members to attend a
special preview of the Director's Cut of the new feature documentary
"Cinerama Adventure", screening Saturday, May 18, at the Los Angeles Film
School, at 6363 Sunset Blvd., in Hollywood.

Doors will open at 9:45AM, for the 10:15 screening. The 98 minute doc will be
followed by a demonstration screening of actual 3-panel Cinerama, at the
Cinerama Dome located directly across the street from the Film School.

Please R.S.V.P. early, as seating is limited, by calling (818)843-1865 before
May 15. Please indicate that you are an AMIA member.

I would urge anyone who can make this screening to do so.

Randy, Dave Strohmaier and Greg Kimble were present(not forgetting !!) when we screened Cinerama Adventure at the recent Bradford Widescreen Weekend .

It is an absolutely fascinating look at the rise and fall of this amazing process.

Of course for the real thing just come across to Bradford on the first Saturday of each month to see "This is Cinerama" as it should be seen on a 147 degree louvred screen http://www.nmpft.org.uk/guide/cinemas/pictureville.asp

We saw a rough cut of this documentary two years ago when the Seattle International Film Festival had a Cinerama day at Seattle's Cinerama theatre. It is a "must see" for all film buffs.
They did a hell of a good job on this.

Yes, I must agree, Cinerama Adventure is the best documentary about cinerama I have ever seen. Of course it is the only documentary about cinerama I have seen.

The people who made it obviously love Cinerama and the "Smile Vision" is a pretty good way of representing the image.

Does anyone know if John Harvey was involved in this project?

I was lucky enough to see his Cinerama set-up and presentation both in his home and then in the theatre in Dayton,OH a couple years back.

"How The West Was Won" in original 3-projector Cinerama with its 6-channel sound totally blew me away!!

It's a great film and proud to be a part of it. Only let-down is the missing story of Cinemiracle and "Windjammer". Saw it in Bradford and a had great time with Dave, Randy and Greg who all came over for the occasion (and beer of course).

PS: Prepare to buy the September issue of American Cinematographer.

Why? Are they going to do another in-depth article about the making of HTWWW that totally ignores the fact that process shots were made in UP70?
