I am asking this for a friend who has a Strong X-60 and a "cold" glass reflector running a 5000 watt lamp at a drive in. He wants to install a heat filter and he has a Christie that was originally made for an SLC console. Is that an acceptable heat filter for that lamphouse? Also, should that filter be angled to prevent damage to the reflector?

Generally, heat filters should be angled, yes. Strong's heat filter has always been angled.Steve

He doesn't have internet access and I actually posted that question for him before I got off of the phone and missed one of the specifics, so......Assuming it is to be angled, approximately what angle? Does it matter downward or upward?

No it doesn't matter about 10 degrees from verticle and the coated side towards the lamp

Heat filters should be angled away from the reflector and should be "reflecting" the heat to a heat sink or aimed at a heat resistant surface. We recently did a 7Kw conversion in which heat panels where included at part of the kit.
