www.sdds.com

You didn't think it could be that easy, did you?

Some people can read "War and Peace" and come away thinking it's a simple adventure story while I, on the other hand, can read the ingredients on a chewing gum wrapper and unlock the secrets of the universe.

The SDDS site may be easy to find. But it doesn't seem like the webmasters have an easy time updating it. I think it has been something like 2 years since the last update.

"More than 500 films have been and are scheduled for release in SDDS by summer 1999"

Yeah

The person who maintained the site left the company to become an independent consultant about the time the site stop being updated. Their information site may be out of date but the site regarding equipment sales handled by Sony dealers is updated ( with a prompt to the user to do so ) as needed with price / specs / availability.

I hate maintaining websites, but I wonder if SDDS would be interested in paying for some freelance graphics work?

Les --- will you or someone from the UK office of Sony be coordinating the site? Or will it still be handled out of Culver City?

John,

The site will be maintained from the US.

However it will be easier for Sony engineers and other staff at SDDS to have input and get it uploaded to the site.

The new site will contain much more comprehensive details on all aspects of SDDS from the studio, printmastering, negative recording through to laboratory printing as well as support for the player systems in theatres.

But SDDS boxen still have to get sent out for repair by the same people who fix VCR's and VAIO's? Is that correct? If so then someone's priorities are screwed up. Or did I read that wrong?

Steve,

Here in Europe the engineer who repairs SDDS equipment is trained specifically for that brand.

At the repair centre at Sony UK there is an engineer who fixes all SDDS readers, boards etc.

He does not fix Vaios or VCR's.

But even if he did whats the problem with that ?
