MTS used to provide Osram and Christie bulbs at very reasonable prices, but seeing as how they've gone the way of the do-do, you won't get any from them.I'd reccomend Capitol City Supply, that's where our last two bulbs came from after MTS went defunct.
Oh, and don't buy any brand of bulb except Osram or Christie, ever.

So Dustin...Got a problem with Superior Quartz? It is an American lamp and approved for IMAX. They have sizes to fit most lamphouses.
We too sell Christie though.

I second on Superior which we have been selling for the past year when a customer does not specify a brand....so far, very, very good.

Have to plug a friends web site: Xenonbulbs.com. Check them out I think his Christie Xenolites are on sale. He also has all sorts of new and used equipment for theater service at RSEM.com

Steve, I was merely parroting the forum opinion, in all the threads about Xenon bulbs I'd never heard of that brand name. I also took into consideration my exceellent experience with Christie and Osram bulbs.But if you reccomend it (not to mention Richard) it must be good, so I'll retract my earlier statement.

In most converstations...don't parrot...it doesn't add to the conversation nor help others. Speak about what you know and if you have an opinion, offer it (if so solicited). There is nothing wrong with saying that "I've used Christie and Osram and am completely satisfied wither either." Or even a more strong..."I've only been satisfied with Christie and Osram" Either statement is coming from your personal experience and can not be challenged on a factual basis unless someone heard you say something to the contrary. Whether or not other lamps are good would not be an issue, those two you have stated are good ones based on personal experience.Now, I would probably also have mentioned that Superior Quartz is a good lamp but it would have only added to the pool of recommendations.

Briefly shopping for bulbs a couple years back I came across Scott Hicks at ACE. Good prices on Ushio- umm I mean Christie. I was a believer of only Osram up until I was servicing theatres and saw the performance of Christie bulbs. They seem to be as good of build quality, warranty and as dependable as Osram at a lower cost. I will try out Superior Quartz if their price is competitive with Ushio.

Personally, I'd stay away fomr Osram all together. Its not what it used to be at all.........Also priced way too high and for what???? Stick with either Christie/Ushio, or Superior Quartz.

Totally agree with comments about Superior Quartz - totally stable and reliable. We'd now supply these unless a customer specifies something else...Does anyone know what has happened to Perkins Elmer ? My English stopped at sixth form but I can't see how "Perkins-Elmer" can be an anogram of "ORC" !

Hey, guys....price them out from various suppliers. Some will high-ball you on price, some will give you a nice break. It'll keep them on their toes....I was shocked to find out MTS was ripping some theatres $1000.00 for a 3KW Osram.
But, that was MTS.

I get mine from Vern Klingman at Cin-Tronics. He has always, without exception, treated me more than fair. When Josh needs a part for his stuff, I order it through Vern without having any fear that we will get "skinned".
If I need something for the theatres I try to keep them running, I order those parts from Vern.

Vern will go out of his way and take the "extra step" to help you, as long as you treat him fairly, and pay your bills. Very honest company, and always willing to help in any way he can. 
Others I feel comfortable with are Brad, Mark, Gordon, Steve Guttag, and Scott Hicks, just to mention a few. Some of those I have not dealt with yet, but by knowing who they are through Film-Tech, I have a 100% vote of confidence in them.

CXL-1000S is a "short" bulb (HS) as commonly used in an older ORC lamphouse and the present Cinemeccanica CX21H.
