What is the best film cleaning machine? (Well the best for the cheapest... actually just the cheapest) lately my prints have been having lots of dust on it, but I guess since we sometimes run prints that have been to 6 other theatres we have to expect some dust. And, it would be nice to clean our prints... but we usually only run each print twicec... but I still want Clean Film. Thanks.

Brent,See that button over there on the left, directly under the button for Forums? Its called Film-Guard. Read the entire post. Then make an appointment to meet Brad Miller at the UA Galaxy in Dallas which isn't that far from Grapevine, TX. Then just do it!

Think how cost effective it is to have people think you show dirty films vs. the cost benifit ratio of people knowing that you care enough to use the very best.

Well I use film guard, but I just use it to reduce static, sincec I dont have the actual cleaner pads. So I just wipe it on the edges, and I just want to start using it to clean

You should be able to find a used Kelmar film cleaner for about $200-250.

ICECO usually has a couple of used Kelmar cleaners floating around. You might want to email Steve Krams and inquire. ICECO@aol.com
It would take forever to try and clean your prints by hand. It CAN be done, but you have to be pretty dedicated to want to tackle it. In the end, payroll costs on your extra time would pay for that cleaner awful quickly.

Believe me, Film Guard is perfect. It's great as an anti-static agent, but spray some on a kelmar dry media pad and run it with the cleaner, you'll never have another scratch. I've witnessed it. Our SRD error rate dropped from 4 to 1 on almost every screen, it gives you the impression that you're watching a vision, not actual film.It's worth it to run with the Kelmar film cleaners, do it once a week or at LEAST every two.
