Here goes I have obtained a Super Simplex head and Motiograph soundhead that I am going to try to use in my Portable Drive-in. Has anyone heard of a water cooled gate made for a super Simplex. We are going to be using a either 3000 or 4000 w bulb and I am looking for ways to not fry the gate or ruin any film. I was even thinking of a blower unit aimed at the gate. Any suggestions

I don't know of any water cooled gates made for a Super or E-7. You might want to look for another projector that does. Marcus was blasting a Super Simplex with a 6,000 or 4,000 watt Xenon in Wausau, Wisconsin in the '80's, and it did hold up. However, the gate parts liked to turn blue from the heat. Aperature lates? HAH! they had to be pulled with a pair of pliers. Film damage? they probably didn't care, because the prints they got were ready for the trash anyway.
