Upon screening The Good Girl Thursday night, I was a scratch in reel 3 in two different spots.
The first time was about halfway through when Jenifer Anniston and John C. Reilly are in the car arguing before leaving the bible study.
The scratch is a small black scratch just up and to the left of the center of the screen.
At one point it is directly over Jennifer Annistons eye.
I saw it again near the end of the reel when she is sitting on the bed and he is standing in the dorrway brushing his teeth and talking about going to the doctor the next day.

We ordered our replecement reel and when I watched it, it had the same thing in the same spots.
I couldnt see it at the bench, but it was on both reels.
Im thinking it was something on the negative.

Has anyone else seen this?

Scratches, cinches, or dirt on a negative element usually show up as WHITE in the final image. A black scratch that is in exactly the same spot on multiple prints could be on the master positive.

I had the same thing. When it quickly disappeared, I figured it was either from the lab or shot that way.

What an expensive mistake to make! If it is on a first generation fine grain interpos, then if the release prints are rejected at quality control, you'd have to reprint that from the cut camera negative, reprint all the dupe negs from the new interpos and then restrike all the release prints from the new dupe negs. We'd be talking about tens of thousands of dollars/pounds at the very least, I'd have thought.

In this case maybe they decided to live with the scratch given the likely cost of making new prints...
