I have one of three late 80's vintage Strong/Eprad CPA-10 autos that has completely gone to hell after its backup battery failed. Without driving three hours to the location just to figure out what type of battery I need (I am pretty sure its a cylindrical type lithium cell but not 100% sure- I will also need voltage and type number) I am hoping someone out there (Pat?) might know what I will need so that I can order a replacement ASAFP. The theatre is running all shows on that screen in manual mode at this time. Any help would be appreciated.

My manual claims that this is a "Size 1/2 AA 3.6V). Hope that helps.

I usually warn customers NOT to shut off the automation power at night if they get a low battery warning, and to change the battery with the automation power ON.

It is a 3.6 v / 1/2AA as noted...the board has an extra + input so either short or longer battery can be used.

If it is the same one as the EPRAD Ultimation then it is the type of battery that has the leads attached to the battery (looks like a purple capacitor, axial lead). Tadiran is the main company...

One other thing that's worht knowing about these, I've had this exact problem many many times, and as often as not changing the battery has no effect. We found that soldering the battery leads to the PCB cured it in every case. I'm assuming that contacts on the PCB oxidise after a while.
