Here is something for u guys to think about,
Here in Cyprus we don't splice the tail and head leader back on the film but we put a small round white number at the end and start of each reel since we only get five or six prints in our country. We have to subtitle the films so when we do a first show for the distribution company to see we don't have subtitles and therefore we have to splice the leaders back on. One thing that I do is cut the frame in half (2 sprockets) instead from the frame line. That gives me only one frame to destroy instead of two! So when splicing the leader back on I cut both ends from the line (basically only one frame gone since it has been cut in half) and splice it back to the reels. What do u think?
And please don't ask why we don't splice the leaders back when we do regular shows. Cyprus policy!!
Adios amigos

Did I misread something or is not splicing the leaders back on law or something.
How much jail time do you get for splicing them on?
Even if splicing the leaders on is punnishable by death in your country, you could always peel off the splicing tape and not have to destroy any half frames.I still think Im misreadinng something.

James , You are right I had to reread this twice too.
Here at Miramax, I get alot of films from Europe.
Some of the prints come in with the heads and tail
loose. They have a small sticker near the first and
last frames of the picture to id them. But you see
that little sticker on the screen.

I see this a lot on prints I handle at film festivals. Leaders stuck on with a little dot sticker...-Aaron
