I use filmguard daily in my 4 screen. I recently changed out my pads...they're Kelmar's green ones...and now they don't move.

The cleaner just sits there and the film runs over it. I have to manually advance the pads. Otherwise, there just a huge, purple, streak across the pad.

What am I doing wrong here??

The cleaner's takeup mechanism requires that the rubber insert be compressed (so it expands) to grab the internal sides of the takeup core. With the thumbscrews fully tightened down, can you spin the takeup core? If so, you are either missing parts from your cleaner, the rubber insert has seen enough use and needs to be changed, or the rubber insert is not "fat" enough to grab the particular core you are using as takeup. Do note that the plastic cores have an ever so slightly larger inner diameter than the cardboard cores.

My rubber inserts are virtually non-existant. Where can I get more of those?

Go find the set of pads you threw away. The rubber cores are in there!

Any cinema dealer can get you replacement rubber inserts. Also, I highly recommend that the takeup core NEVER be removed. Just loosen the thumbscrews a couple of turns and pull the media off. This prevents lost parts and extends the useful life of the inserts.

I looked at it a bit more closely today. Seems that I have 2 total of these cores. Shouldn't I have 4?

I order from David Tyson...so I'll see what they have.
