This is said to be only 3"x5", stainless steel and heavy.
Does the Kelmar 35mm splicer require perforated tape?
Can it be used to make satisfactory splices with Neumade clear unperforated tape? I never knew of this model's existence but might be interested to buy. Does it appear to be complete as shown?

I intended to include a photo but did not re-read the new way to upload a photo from my hard drive and when asked for the URL instead of being able to browse, I tried to use copy and paste but that wouldn't work. Now I'll try to find the instructions and do it right.

I've never seen nor heard of this one either. I would guess by the looks of it, and the item's description, that it was initially intended to be used with something similar to Kodak presstapes. Perhaps it could be used with perforated tape, but there does not appear to be any mechanism in place for cutting perforations into or edges off of standard splice tape.

Ah, then it's really a "splice block", not a splicer; though unlike the cheap sheet metal stampings I've seen for 8mm and 16mm film using Quick-Splice or Press-Tape bandaid-like patches, it has a cutting bar on the right side! I didn't know those quick patches were made for 35mm film.

I can't figure what the two white plastic (?) strips are for, nor why
it is shown with such narrow tapes.

I imagine they are used to hold down the two pieces of film to prevenet them from moving while the splice tab is applied.

The top two rolls of tape are metallic cue tape for putting cues on the inboard and outboard (ugh) edges.

Hudson Photographic made pre-perforated splicing tape "tabs" that could be used with such a 35mm splicing block.
