I am trying to find out any information I can on a Holmes Projector. The Battleship North Carolina had a Holmes Projector given to them and it is a little different from any Holmes I have seen. The name plate says the following. Holmes Projector No 3488. There is a leather handle on the top and it the magazines only take 10 minute reels. It looks like the drive is a direct shaft drive no belt or chain. The sound for the projector is mounted on the front exterior of the projector. It has a lamphouse with a 1000 watt bulb attached. I am attaching a picture of it.

Thanks for the input

I believe this is an older silent model Holmes that was modified for sound later. I've never encountered one in person, but the sound retrofit was available for a time in the early 30's. Holmes parts were used, but I've been told that the modification was actually done by a third party, not the factory.
The 1000' reel size was the standard in America until about 1933.
