Hi

I'm using a Abacus RTa with one mic. Now i have to equalize a cinema with balcony. What's the best position of the mic. Normally i place the mic 3/4 from the screen.

Most would agree that in a situation like this, take two readings, and composite the two to make an "average picture" of the room acoustics. I have never tuned a room myself, so I will let those with a little more expertice chime in on this one.

I would recommend 3 positions on the floor and 2 in the balcony. EQ it at one position centralized between the 5 and then just make notes on paper for the other 4 positions. Do some quick averaging on paper and adjust for final tuning. That's probably your best bet without a multiplexer and a balcony.

Remember that with the Arta 80 (I'm assuming that's the one you've got) it can perform the averaging for you. The procdure is in the manual, but the basics of it are as follows.

You take 4 snapshots of the room, and store them into memory. The Arta then displays the average of those memories, if the correct mode is selected.

I let you know what the results are. At the moment the front channel SPL is much lower at the balcony than in the cinema.
