Ok, well i'm in the process of checking my projector speed, thanks everyone...
Question, i need to run a microphone through my CP55, i have a cd player attached to non sync, no problems there, but where do i put a microphone in ? do i need a preamp or something ? i have the cat 441 sub bass card as well and split surround. Help!

If it is a single machine booth connect it to the Proj2 cell input and then changeover to the mic

Would there be any distortion issues with that setup given that the optical preamp expects a current source?

It works fine with a CP200. The operator just selects projector 2, format 01 to turn on the mic.

Another way to set this up would be to use a tape recorder or mixing board with a mic preamp connected to the non-sync input.

The "right" way to do this for a permanent installation would be to have a completely separate system for the mic, with it's own preamp, amp, and loudspeaker. This reduces the possibility that someone might do something stupid and damage the film system (usually this happens when someone turns the volume all the way up and then realizes that the mic switch is turned off; turning it on with the fader all the way up will usually blow a diaphragm on a stage speaker).

I am currently running mics through my CP55. I am using a Mackie VLZ 1604 mixer with the 4xsub groups hooked up to the Aux input. This way I can send any channel on the mixer be it mic, non-sync or otherwise to any channel in the auditorium. I have a stage area for intro's and discussions so I send mics to the surrounds and play non-sync if required throught the L & R to maintain stereo. If there's a radio mic in use for audience questions I route it through the surrounds as well as the centre channel a bit so the panel on stage can hear the questions clearly. I works very well, although we make sure all who use it are properly trained so they don't blow any speakers etc and cost me a few shows!

Steve--I have no idea. I didn't do it. It was set up years ago and seems to work fine.
