Aha!
I had taken a quick look at the manual and saw the matrix on the panel, I didn't look further and see that it's a LED matrix not a pin matrix.
Now I'm just as curious as to what a patch pin might be...

This is just a guess, Ken might not be referring to a physical pin, but a PIN as in Password.

The Pennywise Ezymation IV’s that I use require a password to get into the computer to
change subroutines or patches, like Auto Slide, Auto Start, Auto Stop.
Standard programs and their steps don’t need a password to be modified, just the subs do.

Now this is starting to make some sense.

If this is indeed about a password for the CA-21 automation, there is a master PIN...at least, for the ones I have. The same PIN works on both the wall-mount and console-mount units. I believe that a different code can be programmed into the EPROM, along with custom features. I elected to keep the original password.

Still, I wonder if Pennywise leaves their PIN in place, in case a "back door" is needed.

Question: Do all CA-21's come from Australia or are some made in the U.S.A.? Or somewhere else?

sorry its been a while getting back to you....

Yes the 'Patch Pin' is a password to get into the Pennywise automation. There are two, one for setup which I have and one for Patching the relays onto different functions, which I don't have. I have the manuals so all I need is the pin.

Our units don't respond to the pin I have... so was wondering if there is indeed a 'master' pin out there.

I'm desperate to get on with some work but am being held back.... It's quite simple, all I want to setup is a pulse for the CD player, they have been modified to accept a pulse to start or stop playing. For some reason this was never wired in on the original install.

Looks like I'll have to wait until the Pennywise dealer sorts it out.... but I hate waiting when I can get on with the job myself [Big Grin]

All Pennywise automations are made in Australia, while some outboard parts such as interface boards, are made by some distributors. Christie, Kinoton, Monee and other distributors either sell the Pennywise product as part of their line or have customized systems made.
