Constantly dropping out coming back and dropping out again, anyone else having problems with their print or cd's? I know The Core had bad disks is there a known problem with Phone Booth?

Just listened to it, didn't hear any problems except I had to turn it up and it seemed the right and left channels were awfully quiet in the mix.

BTW, the core didn't have bad disks - they changed a song during the end credits. I ran the original disks for almost a week before I got the new ones.

The discs for THE CORE were not "bad", a song was changed.

If your DTS player is having playback problems, try moving the discs to see if the problem follows the disc or the drive. Also, be sure that the TIMECODE light on the reader/player stays on steadily and does not blink. If it blinks, that's a sign of a bad print or your reader needs calibration.

The only problem we had with 'Phone Booth' is it actually uses the left and right channels for dialog, and we had a left HF driver was that scratchy at those voice frequencies. No problems with any DTS stuff.

Yes, I noticed when walking theaters that Phone Booth makes VERY cool use of the surrounds! [Cool]

We haven't had any DTS problems to speak of.

This looks like an interesting movie after all. I should see it before it gets moved to one of the mono houses. [Frown]

I am posting following up the comment about changing a song on the Core. Anyone know why they did that, what if the digital dropped out to analogue - wouldn't that be a complete foul up? Does this mean that dts theatres would have one version of the credits and SR-D theatres another?

Just curious, never heard of this before.

The issue with the trailer music for "The Core" was probably a licensing issue or maybe a last-minute change in artistic choice. If anyone knows the details, I would be curious as well.

Yeah, it probably would sound very odd to have the digital track fault and revert to the optical track with a different song, but fortunately DTS usually doesn't fault randomly in the middle of a reel (though SDDS probably would). As long as the timecode track is good, the disks aren't damaged, and the player has the newer drives, it's very unlikely that DTS will fault at all.

I haven't seen any problems with Phone Booth in DTS. The advance screening that I saw was in SRD and it played fine, too. I enjoyed the film and the sound mix was indeed good. Try to see this in a good-sounding house.
