G'day to all,

I would like to find out about the courses that Dolby and other companies ie: Kinoton, Cinemecanicca etc. hold. If anyone has attended any of the courses, could you let me know what you thought, and how you came about 'enrolling'/finding our information to these courses.

I have looked over their websites, but have not found any details what so ever.

The Dolby course only gets into the very basics of cinema sound. If thats what you are after then its a good idea....there is always good food too. They used to conduct an advanced course but it has not been given in years [Confused]

A friend of mine here just went through both the Dolby and Kinoton courses (lucky bastard). I'll see if I can get him to post his impressions.

Kinoton recently gave successful three day training sessions in Boston and Los Angeles for about 60 people. Two lead technicians from Germany did the training in addition to Kinoton America staff. Larry Shaw was on hand for both sessions. Sessions covered the cinema and studio line of hardware and included actual strip down and assembly of equipment, technical software and other matters. Future sessions are a possibility..........

I recall that Kinoton America had a short course at their headquarters in Brighton MA about a month ago. Darryl Jones from Kodak attended and found it very worthwhile. Larry Shaw or Richard Fowler may be able to provide details and if any more are scheduled again soon.
