Alright I'm trying to get my boss to get some Film Guard for me, but first I need to get a media cleaner mounted. I'm at an indie house in a not so indie part of town so budget is important. We already have a Christie FC-1 cleaner. So if anyone has suggestions on mounting it, that would be appreciated. The projector set-up (or soon to be set-up) is 2 DP70's both running off a 4-tier LP-270 platter. Thanks for any suggestions/idea you guys have.

I have an old Christie FC-1 that has a chain drive and found that if you go with a platter mount bracket, there might not be enough back tension to turn the large black flywheel. This was only a problem because I had removed the stop spring in my Christie platter brain. Platter mounting is easiest, you can quickly add or remove the cleaner this way, I believe Brad drilled and tapped holes on a LP-280 to accomodate a cleaner, there are pictures in the review section, I don't see why you couldn't do that with a 270.
Or you could go with a projector bracket but I'm not sure if the bracket available is designed to work with the DP70.

This question is interesting to me too. I have a cleaner I need to mount somewhere on my Vic 4. Anyone got any suggestions? I have no platter to mount it on...

I've mounted an FC-1 Christie cleaner on the top of a Cinemeccanica platter. There is no back tension from the module but it works perfectly fine. Just make sure the rubber rings on the big drive wheel are in good condition and it'll be fine.
The more surface area of the drive wheel the film cover's the better. I'm using it to apply FilmGuard with excellent results.
David if you are going to try and mount one on your Vic 4 and it's running reel to reel be careful that there is not too much tension between the spool and the cleaner. They are not intended to work with high tension and you risk scratching film if you are not careful. I've seen this happen on bench mounted cleaners a few years ago.
The best place to mount it is on the upper spool plate above the lens mount on an extension bracket. This way it is easy to bypass the cleaner as required. From memory there is enough clearance to do this and return the film to the top guide roller.

I have recently started at me first multi screen venue and situation arose where I came across a Christie FC-1 film cleaner.
I would like to put it to use. The pads that were already attached are quite dirty but I have found a new clean set still in their original wrapping.
My questions are : I have Cinemecannica CNR3-35 platters. Where is the best place to attach the cleaner?
and..
Do the film-tech media pads work with these cleaners?
I have the green light to get film-guard and the pads but I will be unable to purchase a new cleaner so I hope this one works.
I'm still fairly new at this so any help is greatly appreciated.

First thing I'd do is open it up and make sure all the gears are on tight. When I got my used Christie cleaner and opened it up, half the screws inside were almost ready to fall out! ![[uhoh]](graemlins/uhoh.gif)
