Okay, twice now the same operator has been building a print onto a Goldberg reel only to have the outboard flange fall off. As it's spinning the little locking screw works it's way inward and the outer flange turns until it comes off.

The first couple of uses of the Goldberg the flanges are very hard to get on and off, but the plastic wears in and becomes easier for the flanges to be removed...maybe too easy.

Has anyone had this problem and what did you do to correct it? Maybe the reel orientation should be like when you tighten down a wire on a srew terminal. So when the reel is spinning the pressure is pushing the reel flange against it's stop instead of towards the opening.

I've been using my Goldbergs for about 1 year, should I expect more of the same problems or are there any other problems I should expect from worn in Platter reels?

Sounds to me one of two senarios:

The operator is flange binding too hard with too great of backtension coming from the feed reel's clutch.

or

The screw is not turned into it's locked position and is turning during buildup.

I have a platter reel that has had constant usage for 4 years and has no such issues.
