How do you tell the age of brenkerts?
One of mine is a BX80 with SN# 5383.

Robert Sprague might have that information. The BX-80 was introduced in May of 1939, and was in production for about 9 years until the BX-60 was introduced. I cant find my documents that indicate exactly when production ceased.

Anyway, the BX-60 started production in late 1947. Official introduction was made on 10 June 1948. There was 2800 BX-60/62 heads made. It is thought production ceased in mid 1953.

However, there was a time Brenkert did not manufacture projectors. That period was from the Spring of 1942 until the Summer of 1945. Brenkert was involved in a secret device used by the USN that was supposed to guide our aircraft safely back to our carriers.

I would guess yours was probably after that era. That's the best information I have.

Sam, My BX-40's are 5966 & 5967. BX 80s and 40s used the same serial numbers. Robert Sprague placed the manufacture of mine in 1940. The 80 & 40 sequence started out with 5000, so that places yours somewhat earlier than mine. Yours is the 383rd head to be manufactured. Maybe 1939? Just in time for such classics as GWTW and Wizard of Oz! Jeff
