It's been several years since I've posted, but now I'm back at my old place and there's a puzzling problem with the lens turret. The guy that had been working there told me to change the lens manually because the main fuse kept blowing. So I removed the cover and checked the wiring for any shorts with an ohm meter and found none. Then put a 240V/8A fuse in, pushed the button and the lens went from scope to flat smoothly for the last show. The next day the other projectionist told me he tried to change the lens to scope for the first show and the motor gave a little effort then the fuse blew again! I'll also add that I don't see any signs of jamming or loose gears, and I know it uses two motors( one to go up and one to go down). And I have studied the manual. Any ideas what could be causing this in not one, but two projectors?

possably bad motors.

These turrets use a common shaft with two motors (as an assembly). I had a couple of these motors go bad (the motor winding that moves the turret from flat to scope) with shorted windings.
