I need some suggestions on a supplier of GOOD heat shrink tubing. I've tried Radio Shack's and its awful. Same with the car parts stores. I remember having some that was grayish black that worked great but I don't remember where it came from.
Anyone got a recommendation?

Electronic Resourcing here in Olympia has an excellent selection of heat shrink tubing and in various colors, too. You should also check C&G Electronics in Tacoma (near where that giant warehouse burnt down a couple of weeks ago) and Radar Electric in Seattle.

For black and clear, I like the Alpha stuff too. It doesn't stink like some and it works really well.

OK... Dammit! I also Agree.. Alpha is THE best shrink tubing.

For mail-order, try Digi-Key electronic supply. They have tons of all sorts of electronic parts, supplies, and tools.

Seriously...I concur with everyone else who says Alpha is the best. However, 3M also makes a respectable line of heat shrink tubing; I've used the 3M stuff and found it works reasonably well. If you can't get Alpha, 3M is also worth looking in to.

It almost goes without saying, but a good heat gun also helps!

Beleive it or not, you can buy some at Lowe's Home Improvement
Stores, I get it there all the time, Look on the rack in the
electrical Dept. Home Depot has it also but it comes rolled up,
not very good I might add.

How about heat shrink tape? Both of my parents were in the Marine reserve-my dad was an electronics/communications tech & sometimes they bring home a few rolls of this gray colored heat shrink tape which was of high quality but looked like a roll of gray colored chewing gum.
