Anyone else got this problem in a Norelco, the change over shutter sticks shut, a lot. We have to remove the cover before each show and lift the shutter with a finger to make sure it's loose. If not, it may not lift when the projector starts. You can tell when it's sticking when you lift with a finger, sometimes it's stuck hard.

Which model of Norelco if it is the DP70 the pivot and the plunger in the solinoid often get gummed up clean them and lightly lubricate them and that helps

Sort of proprietary info, but we have sexy mods to the FP20 (and series) as well as the DP70 aned DP75 to get them to changeover sometime soon after the button is pressed. With no mods any machine over a year old seems to develop a certain tardness only otherwise associated with not making it's bed nor shining it' shoelaces... Public schooling is what's needed - young shutters today do not know the meaning of disipline

I figured out what's happening. These projectors were just rewired a few weeks ago into a new booth. I'm told the changeover was not used in the old booth. What was done for changeover in the new booth was to disconnect projector 1 power supply for the fire shutter. Then the power supply for projector 2 fire shutter is switched with wall switches between projector 1 and 2. The problem with doing this is as follows. The power supply without a load is 180V. When the solenoid is switched in, the power supply is loaded and drops to 80V. The solenoid needs the 180V kick to pull in and then the 80 volts holds the solenoid in. But, with what was done the following happens. Projector 2 is used to run trailers, then change-over to projector 1 for the plattered feature. But, once projector 2 is running, the power supply is loaded and down to 80V. So when you start projector 1 and hit the changeover, the solenoid in projector 1 only gets 80V and does not always pull in. I'm going to have to redo this, probably with relays using both projector 1 and 2 power supplies.

Actually we get rid of the original DP-70 C/O shutter assy completely and retrofit a Kelmar C/O into it. Works well and is totally trouble free.The C/O shutter itself is still avaiilable from WOLK for much less $$ if anyone is in need of one. If you order at least several Kelmar C/O's at a time they will do the maching on them for you. We've converted quite a few to this system.
