Do any of you good folks know of any websites that might have a photo archive containing photos of the carbon-arc in action? National Carbon Co., years ago, published a handbook for carbon users and had a photo of a suprex arc. Mine is long gone. A photo of the arc in action might make a good screen saver or wallpaper for your computer. Any help you might have would be appreciated. Thanks [Big Grin]

Here you go, William, in color...

That's a 6mm negative and 7mm positive burning at 40 amperes (a little on the low side for this trim) in a Peerless Magnarc. The green cast you see is that of the observation port glass. Unfortunately, that irregular swath you also see in the photo, about 1-1/2" from the left, is one sign of reflector deterioration. [Frown]

Thanks Jon...... That is beautiful.... I have been obsessed with these arcs for over 55 years. Since I was a little kid hanging around a drive-in theatre in the 1946 era. That's why I went into the trade. This is still in my blood. The carbon-arc will never be replaced as far as I'm concerned. Thanks again... Bill
