That should be to run the projector motor, for as long as the button is depressed.

I have never seen a "JOG" button on any or our consoles. If it does run the motor, as Tim says, does it kick it into the RUN phase? If not, I would think there is a danger of burning out your start resistors if this button was held too long.

I realized that it runs the motor as long as I hold it on. But that it works also while the projector is in emergency (without resetting it, I tried.).

So my question is: if the JOG commands the motor, what is the difference between JOG and RUN? And what does the JOG with the opposite arrow?

I've been told that JOG is useful during an Interlock that one control the projector before yours and the other the projector after yours. But I never tried.

You could use the 'JOG' in an interlock setup to get the right amount of slack between machines. If there's a 'JOG' button with an arrow in the 'other' direction, it may run the motor backwards... press it and find out.

The difference between JOG and RUN... JOG doesn't / can't initiate the start sequence and it probably doesn't bypass the start resistors or inverter. That and it doesn't continue after you let go of the button... not the funnest way to run a show, but definitely not the worst. [Smile]

Had few interlocks during these days, I realized that JOG is useful to set the right amount of print between machines. The reverse JOG button has the same function of the other button... [Confused]

I also found that JOG works while projector is in emergency.

Does anyone knows other function of these strange buttons??

I've not seen it on a Vic console myself but I would have thought it was a lacing up tool to allow you to easily run down your leader to a particular position. Kinoton have them on some of their projectors, normally set to a much slower speed, to allow you to inch the projector without risk of over running past the position you want in the gate.

You may find that your buttons can be configured to behave as above.... The buttons are clearly connected directly to the inverter so it's not going to be difficult to check out.

The button causes the motor to start regularly until is pressed. The other button (reversed arrow) has the same function.

I wonder if I miss something... Does your V5 consolles has different control panel?

The jog buttons only work i emergency,and are used when running interlock.one buttom runs this and the foregoing projectors,and the other runs this and the next projectors.It´s fore if you have a filmbreak between two projectors,and need to splice,and then straighten the film between the projectors.And thats why it only works in emergency.
